Who is Eligible to Apply
Only prisoners who can answer ‘YES’ to all 8 of the questions below will be eligible to apply.
- Are you a Cat D prisoner (male), or still serving a prison sentence (female)?
- Are you:
- male, a 'lifer', or serving either a fixed term sentence of 10 years or more or an IPP sentence?
- a female serving a sentence of 7 years or more and within three years of release?
- Have you begun to draw up a plan for a productive and fulfilling crime-free life after prison?
- Does your plan have the support of the Head of Learning and Skills and is your application likely also to have the support of a discipline officer?
- Are you clear about what you need funding for?
- Is it for something other than:
- driving lessons,
- costs associated with purchase or running of a car, motorcycle or moped,
- PCV training,
- travel costs to work placements,
- medical costs,
- furniture,
- leisure clothing, or something that is simply to support a leisure interest?
- Have you carefully researched costs?
- Have you looked at other possible sources of funding, in case you are not successful in your application to the Hardman Trust, or the amount awarded is less than the amount that you need, and have you in particular consulted The Prisoner Funder Directory?

Return the completed application form to the Secretary at the Trust's PO Box address.
Remember to include a stamped addressed envelope if you would like confirmation that your application form has been received.
