Alexander MarksWe would like to thank Alexandra Marks CBE for Chairing the board of the Hardman Trust over the last four years.

We are proud that Alexandra has been appointed Chair of the Parole Board and wish her every success in this important new role. During her years with The Hardman Trust, Alexandra has been an outstanding advocate for our mission, strengthening our governance and championing our work. Alexandra shared, “I feel honoured to have chaired the Hardman Trust for the past three years: the Trust’s unique support for those on long sentences is vital work of which I am hugely proud.”

Louise Spencer, Interim Chair says “Alexandra supported the Hardman Trust through a transformative period of growth where we strengthened our support to long-term prisoners across grant making, development of both digital and hard copy directories and through penfriends and relational support services.”

We’re recruiting a new Chair and trustees

We are taking this opportunity to seek an inspiring new Chair and dedicated Trustees to join our Board. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the direction of an established charity with a strong reputation for supporting long-sentenced prisoners in their resettlement back to the community. By joining the Board, you will play a vital role in ensuring the Trust remains impactful, sustainable, and ready to meet the challenges of the years ahead.

Our new CEO, Annette So, will start with us in November and we are excited to harness her leadership to increase our reach across the prison estate, supporting more people serving long sentences as they take their next steps.

Chris Leslie, CL Consultancy, reflects on his own journey to becoming a Hardman Trust Trustee, “being a trustee is extremely rewarding not only professionally, but the effect of lived experience at a board level has a huge impact on service users”. Find out what being a trustee means to Chris:

We believe that by having a diverse group of people on our Trustee Board we can collectively make better decisions and better serve our beneficiaries. We want to achieve a better balance in the voices on our Board by recruiting people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds and people with lived experience of the criminal justice system, so we particularly encourage expressions of interest from people from those groups.
